There comes a time when we just have to decide that today is THAT day.
It is the day for a fresh start, a life overhaul or maybe just a one-area-of-my-life reboot. This is something that may have been put off and procrastinated against for a long time or maybe there has just been a recent inspiration.
Either way, you just know that now is the time and it is time to act.
For some, the delayed start could be due to nervous excitement. After all, if we do not feel nervous with a new start when we don’t have the full picture yet, we would not be human! No matter what, the best thing to do, is to cross that invisible threshold we may have inside and act on our faith. Whether it is taking that small step or a big leap, we make the move and realise that we survived. To our surprise, we may even be enjoying the exhilaration of beginning.
Having fabulous ideas and inspirations are wonderful. Whether we realise it or not, it is best to let that infinitely wiser part of us know that we stand by what we desire and are grateful for what has landed. One way to this is to take one small action that grounds it into our reality. We don’t have to be ‘woo-woo’, spiritual or believe in fairies and unicorns for this to make sense. Even if there is no belief in any of these things, just taking one small step already feels like an accomplishment. This is especially true if we have been resisting, procrastinating, making excuses or looking the other way. Somehow, that desire or idea or vision will find its way back to us and tap us on the shoulder, maybe years later.
It is vitally important that we savour the moment of the win of that very first step. Celebrating wins lets the faith in ourselves strengthen as well as the trust with life and the wiser part of us and God or the Universe or Higher Power deepen. We build our bravery muscle and add to our courage inventory. The next step can then happen with greater ease and excitement. So whether we holler ‘woohoo!’, jump and down with joy, give ourselves a high-five or happy dance (I do all of these on most occasions); it’s the ‘yes, I actually did it’ feeling that’s all-important here.
